Joshua Nkomo's 100th birthday celebrations preps on course

The Joshua Nkomo Cultural Movement is organising a massive event to mark the 100th birthday of the late Father Zimbabwe who was born on the 7th of June in 1917.
Between the 10th and 11th of next month, at least 100 000 people are expected to converge at Nyongolo Village under Chief Bidi in Matobo district to celebrate the late Vice President Dr Joshua Nkomo's 100th birthday.
The chairperson of Joshua Nkomo Cultural Movement, Mr Sibangilizwe Nkomo said the organisation is seized with preparations for the landmark centenary celebrations which seek to reflect on the life and works of the selfless revolutionary.
All Zimbabweans are invited to attend historic event which has also received overwhelming support from traditional chiefs, says Mr Nkomo.
Nkomo reminded Zimbabweans to continue honouring the legacy of Father Zimbabwe through upholding peace and unity in the country.
The organisers appealed to well-wishers for assistance with resources such as fuel and transport to ensure that the two day event is a resounding success.
The celebrations will be held under the theme, "Celebrating Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo's Centenary Through Our Arts, Culture and Heritage".
The late Vice President died on the 1st of July 1999 at the age of 82.
