Fake cop to be sentence on Monday

A FAKE police officer who was arrested while carelessly wearing the police uniform which he stole from a police officer will hear his sentence on Monday as the state has postponed the ruling to seek more details from his Binga district about him.

Thembelenkosi Ndlovu (31) of Kariyangwe in Binga had pleaded guilty to impersonation, and illegal possession of a police uniform when he appeared  before Bulawayo magistrate Tinashe Tashaya.

On Thursday he was remanded in custody to Monday for sentence.

Ndlovu was arrested by the commuter omnibus crew while donned in the police uniform with Inspector badges yesterday pleaded guilty to impersonating police officer and illegal possession of a police uniform On May 8 this year at 6:15am Jabulani Mhlanga of Nkulumane in Bulawayo a former policeman was driving his commuter omnibus when he picked Ndlovu at  Sekusile Terminus who was in a police uniform.

 Mhlanga realised that he was not property dressed as per police standards and suspected he was a bogus police officer. Ndlovu was wearing a  blue police anti- riot trousers with civilian belt, grey police shirt with ZRP tittles for the ranks of an Inspector, black civilian shoes and was not wearing a hat.

Mhlanga then drove straight to Drill Hall to alert the police of a presence of a fake police officer. On arrival at the Drill Hall Ndlovu opened the  kombi door, jumped over the fence and ran away. The police officers gave a chase and arrested him.
