A NORTON man dragged his second wife to court after they broke up claiming US$10,000 compensation for allegedly infecting him with HIV.
The man challenged his wife before the court insisting that she never disclosed that she was HIV positive.
"Your worship, when I got into the relationship, this woman never told me that she is HIV positive.
"She was not truthful to me and never revealed her status even though we stayed together for so long.
"I never seen her taking the pills for HIV, she did everything secretly," he said.
The woman was standing accused of infecting her husband with HIV.
She denied the charges when she appeared before Norton magistrate Never Diza accused of deliberate infection of HIV.
"Your Worship, he was aware that I am HIV positive and he agreed to marry me despite that he had the other family.
"We loved one another to any extent that we used to stay together.
"He used to stay for one week to his first wife and the other week at my house,
"Sometimes he escorted me to work and engage in sex with me at work then he will come back home," she said.
She added:
"Your worship I have been staying for so long with this man for about five years loving one another.
"When I got into a relationship I told him that I am HIV positive; this man is violent even when I wanted to call it quits he used to threaten me.
"I even refused to engage in sex with him during the time I was not feeling well.
"He sexually abused me to the extent that he used to engage in sex with me in the bed whilst I was crying.
"Sometime I went to Utano Clinic in Katanga and the nurses discovered that I am sexually abused but I did not disclose it thinking that I am keeping my relationship."
Magistrate Diza dismissed the claim due to lack of merit.
