Duo get 36 years for stock theft

Two Muzarabani cattle rustlers were convicted 18 years each for stock theft at Guruve magistrate today.
The pair Obert Maweni (34) and Starves Kanyongo (24) were jointly sentenced 18 years each for stealing six cattle on separate occasions.
The court head that on 8 December 2016 the duo drove one cow from Gadzai village in Muzarabani and transported it to Harare for resale.
On another date the cattle rustlers took Blessing Dangarembwa's 5 beasts from a grazing land.
Kanyongo was arrested whilst trying to clear the cattle and Maweni fled from the scene.
Kanyongo led the police to Maweni's homestead where was caught unaware prompting the two to be arraigned before Guruve magistrate Artwel Sanyatwi who gave them 18 years each custodial sentence.
