Fake elections have characterised Zim since 1980

A political analyst Vince Musewe has said fake elections have been the order in Zimbabwe since independence in 1980 and people have allowed being taken for a ride by politicians.
The remarks come at a time when the nation gears itself for the 2018 watershed polls amid revelations political parties have started campaigning.
"Fake elections are elections where we go through all the motions of voting with a rigged result and no accountability. This has been our experience since 1980. We cannot ignore the facts and rely on hope that numbers will prevail," Musewe said.
"Dictatorships are never dislodged by using a constitution which they do not respect. There has to be rapture followed by a national transformative process which creates new institutions of integrity. That to me is the hard pill to swallow which is rather convenient to ignore. We need an NTA first before we can ever think of credible elections."
