New social class, beneficiaries of Zanu PF lootocracy

MDC-T deputy secretary general Tapiwa Mashakada has claimed that the ruling Zanu PF has created new social bases who breathe Zanu PF and depends on its feeding troughs so as to win 2018 elections.
He made the remarks in his series of articles titled "Rigging Narratives in Zimbabwe elections part13: Zanu PF Social bases."
"Zanu Pf has created new social bases who breathe Zanu PF and depend on its feeding troughs. This new social base or class are direct beneficiaries of Zanu Pf lootocracy. They have been getting agricultural inputs, presidential inputs, loans, command agricultural inputs; they monopolize the GMB and other parastatals. They survive on Zanu PF cum government schemes of one sort or another. They belong to their own version of a so-called new economy," he said.
"An economy of consumerism and distribution not production. Its a patronage system which has benefited A2 and A1 farmers; artisinal miners; vendors; kombi and mushikashika operators and Zanu women and youth. About a million people have been absorbed into this Zanu PF net which has emerged from the ashes of the formal economy. Indigenization has been used as a smokescreen to allocate or rather mis-allocate state resources to these Zanu PF cloned social classes."
He said they are eating and benefiting and even those who owed banks millions of dollars on debt got a relief through Zamco.
"This compradorial class does not pay electricity or rates because of political cover," he said. "Yes some do not pay taxes for that matter. Their only guarantee is that they are Zanu PF. That is how bad things are. In my first article i talked about abuse of state resources. Now look at the importation of 20 luxury buses and 400 cars by Zanu PF. Where are they getting the foreign currency? Was duty paid? Its all because Zanu PF has created its new social base."
