A 41-year-old science teacher at Chipangura Secondary in Guruve who was charged for misconduct after allegedly proposing love to eight form one pupils and kissing one of them was acquitted of the .

The matter was heard at Guruve magistrate court on 8 March where Mackswell Basiyawo was being represented by the prominent Guruve lawyer Nancy Mabhoyi and was acquitted of misconduct charges.

According to state papers, the investigating team comprised of the school head Nyepudzai Maporisa, Deputy head Joseph  Dombojena, Senior lady Olivia Ndaiziva, Senior teacher Chimukoko Winziness and Joseph Mapaya. However, their allegations lacked sufficient evidence.

Investigations by Bulawayo24.com suggest that Basiyawo was new to the school and there had been an attempt to force him to pay rental bills for the government's school house but he refused.

Having served five years in the public service in Midlands province, he said he had never heard of having to pay rent for school houses.

That reportedly did not go well with the school administration who allegedly later cooked up a story against him, which was subsequently dismissed by the magistrate court.

A source who spoke confidentially, said at one point the ZANU PF councillor was also involved in the matter so as to instil fear into the teacher.

"This was nothing but blackmail, the investigating team wanted to fix him because he refused to pay rent so at one point they tried to use ZANU PF councillor but to no avail.

"There is also a tractor at the school, which the team misuse so if you are new and resist some of their orders they will try to fix you using various shenanigans," said the source
