Harare thieves who usually follow the sungura ace Alick Macheso and the Ochestra Mberikwazvo's shows in a bid to snatch wallets were at the receiving end yesterday after they were bashed by revellers for their habitual act.
Orchestra Mberikwazvo was performing at Shamwari Joe hotel in Mvurwi, Mashonaland Central where a habitual thief from Chitungwiza identified as Murehwa got a taste of his bitter medicine after he was bashed by an unidentified man who alleged that he had stolen his wallet.
The show was packed with civil servants chief among them members of the police force who were squandering their thirteenth cheque from the government.
Macheso is pulling huge crowds in Mashonaland Central this tobacco marketing season, today he is touring Mt Darwin and Friday he will be at his hunting ground 007 Glendale.
Meanwhile, his Congolese chanter Zhilie seems to be on the verge of exiting as he is always missing in all Mashonaland Central province's tours.
Quizzed about Zhilie's whereabouts by Bulawayo24 Macheso's manager Tich Makahamadze cited transport problems.
"We have a very big band so due to transport Zhilie is not making it these guys give each other chances he was there in Karoi, Mashonaland West previously."
However, on stage Extra basso did not disappoint as he performed for seven hours sampling new and old songs.
