A 43-year-old Mvurwi man was arrested for allegedly entering in MDC-T Mashonaland Central youth chairman's clothing shop unlawfully and stealing clothes worth US$96, 00.
Eye witnesses allege Eikim Ngwenya unlawfully entered into Tonderai Samhu's clothing shop at OMO complex in the wee hours of Wednesday.
"The accused was seen packing clothes in a satchel by Samhu's son before taking to his heels.
"He was caught metres away from the shop after people shouted for a thief to be caught and he was given instant justice before being surrendered to the police," said the source.
Entrepreneurs at OMO complex bemoaned the reported act by Ngwenya and besieged Mvurwi police today demanding to see and caution the accused.
"We are here in this police station to see this man and caution him of his disgraceful act but the police are denying us access.
"This man is one of us but this habit is uncalled for the police should give us time to discipline him," they requested.
Cases of unlawful entry and theft are mushrooming in Guruve district and the police have a gigantic task in reducing the trend.
