Cattle rustler slapped with 40 years in jail

Notorious Mvurwi cattle rustler has been slapped with 40 years in prison by Guruve magistrate after his lawyer withdrew an appeal lodged on his behalf for failure of payment.
It emerged at Guruve court that Lovemore Nyamadzawo (48) who had been sentenced to 40 years in prison by Guruve magistrate Artwel Sanyatwe last year for stock theft, prompting the accused to appeal against the conviction through his lawyer Mutsahuni Chikore.
The accused was granted bail pending appeal at the high court through his legal representative and ordered to report every Friday at Mvurwi police station.
In a dramatic incident when he showed up today at the police station he was shocked to hear that a warrant of arrest had been issued against him after his lawyer withdrew from the case.
The magistrate remained unshaken with his custodial sentence of 40 years after suspending 10 years on condition of good behaviour in the next 5 years.
