Eight bodies of miners have been retrieved from the collapsed Masasa mine in Mazowe. The mine collapsed on Wednesday trapping about ten people.
A source told Bulawayo24.com that from the eight miners, six came from Madziva rural area and two came from Uzumba Marambapfungwe.
Another source familiar with the area claims that the shaft might be around 40 metres deep.
According to the source, mining companies, Mazowe rural council and the community had to assist in retrieving the bodies.
There are fears that if the shaft is left unsealed after this incident, it could claim more lives since some people believe it will have more minerals. "Kana gomba rikafira vanhu rinenge rachekeresa saka rinenge raputika nemari harisiiwe," said the source.
