People's Democratic Party leader Tendai Biti has blasted Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko for storming the Bulawayo Central Police Station to order the release of the G40 faction members who were arrested following the political violence that erupted at the Bulawayo party Headquarters Davies Hall on May 21.
Biti said it was embarrassing for the whole vice president to walk into a police station to make such embarrassing demand.
"There is this one called Mphoko, who ran away from the liberation struggle, ask (Zapu leader Dumiso) Dabengwa he will tell you that he ran away in 1976. He now goes to the police station to demand the release of his G40 members," Biti said. "We must stop the wounds that we have in our hearts and this is because of the people we have allowed to run the country."
Mphoko recently stormed the police station complaining that the police were applying the law in a biased manner after they arrested six of the G40 members who assaulted the Lacoste member Magura Charumbira during the skirmishes at Davies Hall.
