Villagers in Matabeleland regions have complained that 37 years after independence they were still not benefiting from natural resources close to them as people from outside the region descend into the region to loot the resources leaving the areas poor.
They said they are an array of organisations which throngs the provinces to exploit resources from their region and take them to their own home areas leaving Matabeleland poor.
Lot Fuzwayo said they face challenges to benefit from their resources around them.
He said some areas in the provinces are rich with timber but schools in the areas have no furniture and students learn sitting down on the ground.
He said other resources such as pit sand, river sand, Kalaka and caterpillars are always poached by outsiders who leave nothing to benefit the locals.
They called for authorities to assist villagers to benefit from the resources which are being extracted from their areas.
