In a bizarre incident, Mvurwi Town Council employee Moira Zinyemba was reportedly attacked by a swarm of bees whilst taking refuse and had to flee for 2 km under attack.
Sources familiar with the incident allege Zinyemba was on duty collecting refuse with her colleagues when the bees attacked her alone leaving the rest.
"She ran for her dear life and sought refuge at a good Samaritan's house 2kilometres away from the scene in Rusunguko phase 2.
"Zinyemba was stung by bees and she had to flee for about 2 kilometres under the attack before finally seeking refuge at a certain house in phase 2.
"She was subsequently sent to Mvurwi where she was also referred to Parirenyatwa this afternoon and is currently battling for life at the Group of Hospitals," said the source.
