Two Chitsungo men duped a shopkeeper in Mvurwi and vanished with $500. Part of the money was eventually found in the hands of a mentally challenged man.
Allegations are that Stuart Mutandwa (27) got into Chiboora's shop and pretended to buy a cheap 2 litre drink called kalife.
The shopkeeper, who is now the complainant, went to get the requested drink from another shop only so see the suspect jumping from the counter.
Guruve court heard that Mutandwa and his cousin, who is still a large, allegedly fled and the shopkeeper shouted for help.
The complaint filed a police report leading to Mutandwa's arrest.
He had the serial numbers of the stolen money and was advised that a mentally challenged man was throwing some money around at Suoguru rank. He advised the police about it and they managed to get $140 from the man.
Mutandwa was found with $366 but pleaded not guilty. He was remanded to the 1st of June by Guruve magistrate Mr Artwel Sanyatwe.
