War veterans have warned Sydney Sekeramayi that he risks ending his political career if he allows himself to be used by a faction in Zanu-PF (G40), which they termed confusion mongers.
ZNLWVA secretary general Victor Matemadanda said that it would be a big mistake and miscalculation if Sekeremayi allowed his head to be turned by the unusual praise he received from Jonathan Moyo about him being most senior in the party. Matemadanda said Moyo had no right to set the succession agenda in Zanu PF.
Zanu-PF Politburo member and Minister of Defence Dr Sydney Sekeramayi said he is uninterested in Prof Jonathan Moyo's self-serving endeavours.
On Thursday, Prof Moyo told a Sapes Trust Policy Dialogue in Harare that Dr Sekeramayi was the highest-ranking Zanu-PF member after President Mugabe and stood in good stead to take over as Head of State and Government. Sources said Dr Sekeremayi was furious with Prof Moyo, and appearing visibly irritated by the attempt to drag him into successionist and factional politics, the Defence Minister told The Sunday Mail: "Please, they must leave me in peace. Why drag me into those things?"
