Norton Development Association (NORDA) chairperson and Norton Constituency House of Assembly representative Hon Temba Mliswa has reiterated his call for the people of Norton to shelve their political differences when dealing with developmental issues.
Hon Mliswa was speaking at a joint graduation ceremony for the National Youth Service and Norton Vocational Training Centre that was held at the site of the proposed constituency Youth Empowerment Hub next to Dudley Hall Primary School on Thursday.
"Allow me to be frank with you, People of Norton, some of you are in perpetual election mode. Some of you are not even politicians but spend precious time playing a political game they are not good at. The development of our constituency can only happen if we give everything its time. This is the time for development," said Hon Mliswa.
Hon Mliswa commended the Minister of Youth, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment, Hon Patrick Zhuwao, for choosing Norton as the pioneer constituency for the Youth Empowerment Hub concept.
"VaZhuwao is a former MP of this constituency. He has shown his continued passion for it by making sure we are the first to get the Youth Empowerment Hubs concept under way. Let me promise that as MP, I will support the parliamentary lobby which seeks to allocate more resources to the Ministry of Youth, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment, so that programs like these go forward," he continued.
Turning to the National Youth Service gradutes, Hon Mliswa warned them against using their uniforms to perpetuate violence and intimidation in the community.
"NYS graduates, your uniform carries the national flag. When you underwent your training, violence and intimidation were not part of the syllabus. You are supposed to be the most disciplined youths Zimbabwe has, drivers of the lobby for youth empowerment in a civilised manner. Refuse to be used as instruments of violence by politicians because when you face the music, they will never be on your side!", warned the MP.
