Have you ever been made to choose between a parent and beer?
For the love of beer, a man from Pumula North has been disowned by his father and banned from setting foot at his home.
Tema Ndlovu accuses his son Mondli Ndlovu (22) of being an alcohol addict who misbehaves when drunk and therefore has decided to cut ties with him.
"My son Mondli Ndlovu loves beer too much and does not respect me. I do not want to see him ever again and he should not come to my house," said Ndlovu.
He said he no longer had peace in his life because of his son who insulted him in public, tarnishing his reputation.
"He does not respect me at all as he insults me. I am now afraid that he will end up assaulting me as he is in the habit of harassing me.
"He should find his own place and leave me in peace since beer is very important to him," said Ndlovu.
Appearing before Western Commonage magistrate Tancy Dube, Mondli admitted to the allegations saying he would be drunk.
He said he would be highly intoxicated thus end up misbehaving. He tried to apologise, but it was too late as his father had made up his mind and would not budge.
The protection order was granted ordering Mondli not to insult or harass his father and to move out of Ndlovu's house.
