A 19-year-old man allegedly fled from Guruve prison (Kachara) after only serving for a week on his 3 months custodial sentence on Wednesday soon after having breakfast.
Sources familiar with the incident allege a jail boy only identified as Norest who had been sentenced to 3 months imprison for possessing cannabis escaped under guard taking advantage of long grass and maize at the prison.
"The suspect fled soon after eating breakfast, he took advantage of the long grass and maize at the prison.
"He is currently on the run and there is no peace at the prison, the boy is reported to be from Mvurwi town," said the source.
However, last year another female prisoner escaped at Kachara prison but was very unlucky and was caught the very day she tried her shenanigans.
