Cop robbed of his service pistol

A 47-year-old member of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) was robbed of a police service pistol and US$17 by two suspects along Masvingo-Mbalabala road on Saturday.
Sources close to investigations allege Lovemore Chifamba of ZRP (Harare homicide) was robbed by two unknown suspects after his car developed a mechanical fault near 38km peg along Masvingo-Mbalabala road.
"On the 17th of June around 20:45 hours the compliant was on his way from Mashava herding Harare via Masvingo road.
"He was driving his person car which developed a mechanical fault on the 38 kilometre peg along Masvingo-Mbalabala, and he disembarked to check the defect, two unknown accused emerged from the dark and robbed him of the police service pistol and his wallet at knife point.
"The suspect varnished in the dark after robbing the cop, after about 3 minutes the cop followed a small path used by the unknown accused persons and recovered his black wallet about 10 meters from the scene dumped but his US$17 had been stolen," revealed the source.
However, Chifamba filed a police report at Mashava police station and the case was recorded under RRB 3116628.
The scene was attended by the police who failed to locate the footprints of the accused due to hard ground.
