Government says the dualisation of the Masvingo-Harare highway is well on course with engineers and senior managers from the Austrian company Geiger International expected to kick-start work on the trunk road in the next ten days by setting up of their headquarters in Masvingo.
The Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Dr Joram Gumbo was in China where he held a meeting with Geiger representatives who submitted a list of its engineers and earthmoving equipment they are importing to kick start the highway construction.
Advertorials for the local companies who will be subcontracted under the 40 percent stake ring-fenced for the indigenous people will be flighted soon noted Dr Gumbo.
The dualisation of the Masvingo-Harare highway section was launched by President Mugabe at a colourful groundbreaking ceremony held near Chaka bridge recently and Dr Gumbo said focus is now on how the Harare-Chirundu section will be funded.
