TWO police officers based at Nkulumane Police Station in Bulawayo landed themselves in trouble after they allegedly physically assaulted a motorist who was fixing his wife's car inside the station.
Both Samson Machimbidza (40) and Amos Dzenga (22) denied the assault charge when they appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Gladmore Mushove on Friday and were remanded out of custody to tomorrow for continuation of trial.
Prosecutor Kudakwashe Jaravaza told the court that on August 22 last year, the motorist Canaan Phiri of Mpopoma in Bulawayo visited the police station to fix his wife's punctured car tyre. The court heard that Phiri's wife is an officer at the police station.
After removing the tyre and on his way out, Phiri was allegedly stopped by Dzenga and a misunderstanding ensued between the two over an unspecified issue.
Machimbidza allegedly joined in and dragged Phiri to a secluded place where they assaulted him and kicked him on his feet, chest as well as on his private parts.
Phiri then reported the assault case, leading to the suspects' arrest.
