A 17-year-old Mbire woman was arraigned before Guruve magistrate for allegedly termination of a pregnancy that was once registered at Mbire clinic.
The minor who can not be named for ethical reasons pleaded guilty to the charge and has another pregnancy two months old.
Public prosecutor Ms Jane Mwanandimai told the court that sometime in November 2016 the minor registered her pregnancy with Mbire district clinic and later terminated it prompting Mbire staff to file a police report resulting in her arrest.
During mitigation the minor said she was two months pregnant hence a custodial sentence will be too harsh on her.
The paternity of her pregnancy was not mentioned in court.
Guruve resident magistrate sentenced her to eight months imprisonment wholly suspended on good behaviour in the next 5 years.
