ANOTHER opposition political party, National Action Party (NAP), has emerged at a time most opposition leaders are considering forming a grand coalition to field a single presidential candidate against President Robert Mugabe in next year's elections.
NAP, led by Sakhile Nkomo, was launched in Bulawayo on Friday.
NAP spokesperson, Never Sibanda said the party would not join other opposition parties in the proposed grand coalition, but would go it alone in the upcoming elections.
"NAP aims to bring hope to the Zimbabweans subjected to poverty, authoritarian rule through enactment of draconian laws, ever-skyrocketing inflation, lack of basic service delivery, poor standard of health and education, high levels of unemployment and hardships that have been orchestrated by the ruling party, Zanu-PF," he said.
"NAP is saying enough is enough, it's time to restore the lost dignity and revive our beloved country to reclaim our position of being Southern Africa's bread basket."
"Our manifesto is to be rooted in all regions of the country, not only in Matabeleland. NAP is also different from other parties as all leaders will come from where people come from, where they are born in that area."
Sibanda said his party would create a democratic government, end ethnic divisions, provide economic emancipation, transparency and accountability, correct the land reform policy, generate employment opportunities, provide better health and education standards and implement devolution.
