Two seasoned thieves were remanded in custody by Guruve magistrate Artwel Sanyatwe for defrauding a Mvurwi man on a Johane Masowe shrine.
Langton Semwayo (54) and Gilbert Mudzova (age unknown) pleaded not guilty and applied for bail out lamenting police brutality by Mvurwi (CID).
The magistrate remanded the duo to tomorrow for bail application.
Ms Spiwe Makarichi told the court that on 27 June the duo pretended to have picked some money and drove the complainant into a bushy area at Johane Masowe shrine pretending to count the money where they forced the complainant to surrender his $591.
The duo duped the complainant saying they will call him before disappearing with his money and CBZ bank card.
The complaint filed a police report leading to the suspects' arrest on the same day.
However, the two have previous convictions dating back from 1980.
Some of the sentences passed on their previous convictions leaves a lot to be desired as they have been given wholly suspended sentence drawing people to assume that they are into juju.
The state is opposing bail as the two are regarded as flight risk.
