Kwekwe man shot dead by cop at night club

A Kwekwe man was shot dead by a police officer at a local night club in the early hours of today police sources have said.

Sources who spoke to Bulawayo24.com allege Kudakwashe Mutonzi was shot dead by constable Gutu who was on night duty and had gone to Springvest night club where he heard some chaotic noise.

The deceased with the help of his two accomplice Sibongani Ngwenya and Carlos Mutonzi were on police wanted list facing malicious damage of property and assault charges.

"Constable Gutu was in Charge office on night duty, after he had chaotic noise at the bar he armed himself with an FN riffle 303316 to contain the chaos.

"When the cop entered in the night club the trio thought he had come to pick them up for their previous case.

"The trio charged at the cop armed with bottles and machetes prompting constable Gutu to fire three warning shots to disperse the suspects.

"The suspects did not take heed and continued coming the cop fired two bullets on Kudakwashe who fell down and subsequently picked by unknown people into a Honda fit.

"The Honda fit was also fired on but sped off, Kudakwashe was rushed to Kwekwe district hospital where he was pronounced dead upon admission."

Meanwhile, the case is being investigated at Silobela station.

The duo Mutonzi and Ngwenya varnished in the dark and are still at large.
