A HARARE woman revealed that her husband had a mistress because he wanted a baby girl.
This came to light at the Harare civil court where Angeline Chinjani, who is the alleged mistress, was seeking a peace order against Tafadzwa Zembe who she accused of assaulting and labelling her a prostitute.
Chinjani told the court that she was not dating Zembe's husband but she was only a tailor who wanted to help them with their wedding wear.
She said:
"I can no longer live in peace because of this woman who accuses me of having an affair with her husband.
"I am a tailor so her husband approached me so that I could do their wedding clothes but this lady then said why I didn't tell her if nothing was going on.
"She has been constantly calling me in the middle of the night insulting me.
"She comes to my place and assaults me in front of people, she has tarnished my image."
In response, Zembe said;
"She is just lying but she is dating my husband because what can a married man and single lady do in the evening.
"At one point I was walking with my man and she greeted him in a suspicious way.
"I once talked to her about the issue and she promised to leave my man alone but it seems she cannot do that.
"I am legally married and I can sue her for adultery damages.
"She told me my husband wants a female child and I could not give him that is why he approached her."
Presiding magistrate Amanda Muridzo granted Chinjani the peace order she sought.
