Teacher punished for sex with student

A 24-YEAR-OLD Msasa man who is a teacher at Free Grace College will perform 205 hours of unpaid work at Machipisa Police Station for having sexual intercourse with a Form 4 student from that same school in his office.
Bright Chisinde pleaded guilty when he appeared before Mbare magistrate Gladys Moyo charged with having sexual intercourse with a young person.
He was initially sentenced to 12 months in prison before three months were suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.
The remaining nine months were suspended on condition he performs 205 hours of community service at Machipisa Police Station.
The State, represented by Liberty Kuka confirmed that in March the complainant Joyce Gava went to the accused's office with books which she had collected for marking.
It is said that Chisinde and the 15-year-old were in love.
When the complainant got into the office, they started talking about their relationship and kissing.
The accused decided to have sexual intercourse with the complainant lying on top of the table without protection.
It is said that the complainant went home and she did not tell anyone.
The accused and the complainant continued to have sexual intercourse on various occasions at the college.
The offense came to light last month after the complainant discovered that she was pregnant and eloped to the accused.
