The Harare City Council has urged residents in the capital not to buy perishables from vendors following the outbreak of typhoid.

The Council's Director of Health, Doctor Prosper Chonzi, says a recent survey showed that most typhoid victims consumed perishables such as fish, meat and fast foods sold by vendors.

The disease has affected more than 650 people in Harare's western high density suburbs which include Kuwadzana and Warren Park.
