NewsDay journalists arrested, assaulted by police

Police in Harare are reported to have arrested NewsDay journalists Obey Manayiti, Shepherd Tozvireva, Abigail Matsikidze and their driver Raphael Phiri for yet to be known charges.
Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights reported that it has deployed the lawyers to assist the journalists who are detailed at a Harare police station.
"In Harare, ZLHR has deployed lawyers to offer emergency legal assistance to NewsDay journalists Obey Manayiti, Shepherd Tozvireva and Abigail Matsikidze and their driver Raphael Phiri,who are currently detained at Harare Central Police Station after they were taken by ZRP officers while on duty in central Harare," said ZLHR.
"Manayiti, Tozvireva and Phiri sustained some injuries after they were assaulted by the ZRP officers."
