IN A RARE case of incest, a businessman in Muzarabani has sent tongues wagging after he 'confessed' being responsible for his daughter's pregnancy.
David Dhirau (42) is said to have told friends that he impregnated his daughter Simbarashe, 19, on grounds that her husband was barren.
He however, DENIES the claims.
One of his friends told H-Metro that Dhirau openly told them that he enjoyed sex with his daughter more than his wife.
Dhirau is said to have chased away his wife Emma Jorijo (37) and moved in with his daughter.
Simbarashe told H-Metro that after it made rounds after a heated argument between her parents
"I was shocked after my mother called me asking me about the allegations which are totally false," said Simbarashe.
"My mother had a misunderstanding with my dad before she was chased away and went on to stay with her brother in Kahungwe Village.
"She called me there blaming me for her separation after she was told by women running a sewing project.
"It is true that my father abuses alcohol but I never slept with him.
"After my mother left us, my dad would sleep out and I would not accept such a thing in my life.
"He asked me to come back from my husband Alfred Chanuka after he (husband) had knocked off my teeth when I was three months pregnant.
"Alfred is the one responsible for this pregnancy," said Simbarashe.
Emma confirmed she left her house after a misunderstanding with Dhirau over the sale of our motor bike.
"I left my house after a misunderstanding with my husband over the proceeds from the sale of our motor bikes," said Emma.
"His relatives are spreading falsehoods out of jealous because our business is flourishing.
"I have stopped going to the shop because of people are spreading falsehoods.
"Simbarashe's husband calls her many times but we are not comfortable taking her there after he knocked off his teeth.
"Her husband is said to have settled in Rafingora where he is working. They always accuse my husband of using charms," she said.
Dhirau also denied the allegations and blamed it on his competitors fearing competition.
"They know that I am a hard working man and now they are accusing me of bedding my own daughter.
"I do not want to lie I am a Mozambican but I do not use juju as other people are saying.
"Some other people waste their money on prostitutes but I used mine wisely.
"I can not leave my wife to have sex with my daughter.
"I was blessed with five girls and a boy and people want to destroy my life by spreading such falsehoods," fumed Dhirau.
Dhirau's young brother Baba Wencie dismissed the reports but admitted that he might have said that after getting drunk.
"He is not a man to do such a bad thing like that," said Baba Wencie.
"When he gets drunk he can say anything because I remember at one time he openly said that he uses juju in his business which was not true.
"I can not deny that he could have said it in front of his friends but it is not true," he added.
