ZANU-PF Politburo member Joshua Malinga has urged members of the Bulawayo Provincial Co-ordinating Committee to attend a meeting set for Davies Hall today.

Malinga, who was tasked by the party's Secretary for Administration Ignatius Chombo to help address problems bedevilling the party in the province, yesterday said he had begun his task, urging party members to heed President Mugabe's call for unity.

"The work has already started and I will be meeting with all PCC members this Saturday. I am inviting everyone who knows that they are members of the PCC to be at Davies Hall by 2PM on Saturday. We have to put differences in opinion aside and work together as members of Zanu-PF and not as individuals. If we do that, we will bring back normalcy to the province as we work towards the 2018 general elections," he said.

Addressing Zanu-PF supporters at the party's Bulawayo provincial headquarters last Sunday, Chombo also challenged the ruling party's provincial leadership to unite and come up with an effective strategy that will ensure victory for the party in the 2018 elections. In May this year there were violent skirmishes at Davies Hall when rival groups fiercely clashed during a Provincial Co-ordinating Committee (PCC) meeting. Chombo ordered police to arrest party members who clandestinely hold unsanctioned meetings at Davies Hall.

"The President while he was in Lupane on Friday last week denounced acts of violence. We have a case here when violence was witnessed at Davies Hall during a PCC meeting. No one should hold unsanctioned meetings at Davies Hall. If you want to hold a meeting you should first seek permission from the provincial chairman. I have since ordered police to arrest those who hold unsanctioned meetings," he said.
