War veterans led by George Mlala have issued a statement saying the utterances by war veterans secretary general Victor Matemadanda do not represent the views of the war veterans nor the association.
He said the Matemadanda statement is a threat to national security.
Responding to utterances made during a press conference held in Harare last week by Douglas Mahiya and Matemadanda the secretary general of the war veterans group led by Christopher Mutsvangwa, war veterans deputy secretary of the group led by Mandi Chimene, George Mlala has strongly condemned Matemadanda's utterances where he was calling for the arrest of the First Lady Dr Grace Mugabe and encouraging citizens to rise against President Robert Mugabe and his legitimate government.
Mlala said the statements by the Mutsvangwa group does not represent the opinion of war veterans nor the association.
He said a genuine war veterans association is an affiliate of Zanu PF and it submits to the principles and ideologies of Zanu PF such that if aggrieved they follow proper channels to air the grievances.
He said Matemadanda's statement is a clear coup plot and a serious threat to national security.
Mlala urged the war veterans to remain resolute and not to be swayed by a few individuals who are pushing for their own personal agendas.
Mlala said Zimbabwe and Zanu PF have no room for a coup.
