A SENIOR CITIZEN RAN BERSERK and shattered window panes at their matrimonial house as he suspected that his wife had invited a boyfriend in the dead of the night. In that fit of rage, the suspecting grandpa, Fredrick Chirimuuta, 66, of Makawa Village in Seke destroyed 12 window panes as he accused Grace Chirimuuta, 56, of cheating on him.
For the offence, Chirimuuta was fined US$30 with an option of 60 days in jail should he fail to raise the fine on or before January 30.
Magistrate Barbra Chimboza also slapped him with a wholly suspended six months jail on condition he does not commit a similar offence.
Prosecutor Loveti Muringwa told the court that on January 20 this year, Chirimuuta came home around 10pm after downing one too many at Gombe Beer Hall in the neighbourhood. The court heard that he had a conversation with his wife before she decided to leave the room.
After a while, Chirimuuta retired to bed in a separate room and Grace slept in her own.
It was said that after some minutes, puppies at the homestead started barking while in the kitchen.
Their daughter took a bicycle tube and started beating the puppies with intention to chase them away.
Prosecutor Muringwa said Chirimuuta thought it was a thief and got out of his room shouting.
His wife told him that the puppies were barking at her but he could not buy it.
Chirimuuta told him that the puppies were barking at her boyfriend and he went on a rampage destroying window panes.
