Prime Minister, Mr Morgan Tsvangirai is alleged to have been caught in a housing scandal with allegation that the Right Honourable PM externalised part of the money meant for building of his double story mansion.
State media claims that latest revelations indicate that he diverted the initial US$1,5 million he received from the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) earmarked for the renovation of his official residence.
While the double storey mansion, which is still being built for the Prime Minister is almost complete and ready for occupation, questions are being raised about what the US$1,5 million he received from the central bank to renovate the house was used for.
ZBC News say a source close to the development said Mr Tsvangirai is alleged to have connived with government authorities in what has resulted in the PM's double deeping by requesting US$1,5 million from the RBZ and at the same time received another US$1 million for the same purpose from treasury.
It is alleged that the Premier externalised part of the money meant for the building of the double storey mansion while the other bulk was shared between Mr Tsvangirai and his lieutenants.
Other sources revealed that while the initial US$1,5 million is reported to have been diverted by Mr Tsvangirai, questions continue to be raised about where he got the money to complete the mansion.
A legal expert, Mr Fortune Chasi said while it will be too early to accuse the Prime Minister of corruption, developments and more evidence about story will determine whether Mr Tsvangirai has a case to answer.
With reports from the security personnel at the double storey mansion indicating that the Prime Minister has over the past weeks been making constant visits to check progress at his new home, observers noted that the revelations of alleged double deeping should be investigated fully until a logical conclusion is reached.
Others say the double deeping scandal is just a tip of an iceberg of how levels of corruption have rocked the MDC-T leadership, cascading down to its councillors, who are reported to have also swindled wages and salaries of workers for their personal benefits.
