Senior politicians to blame over War vets divisions

The government has expressed concern over divisions within the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association saying some senior party leaders are to blame for the fissures.
This was said by the Minister for Welfare Services for War Veterans, War Collaborators, Former Political Detainees and Restrictees Retired Colonel Tshinga Dube during a meeting in Gwanda.
Retired Colonel Dube met veterans of the liberations struggle in Gwanda recently to discuss critical issues ahead of the annual war veterans' indaba with their patron, President Robert Mugabe.
Dube expressed concern that the war veterans are no longer united saying some politicians are to blame for the factions.
In the province, there is a group of war veterans led by the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Obedingwa Mguni and another aligned to Mandi Chimene which is led by Eyer Moyo.
Dube said the ministry is committed to improving the welfare of the war veterans despite the tight fiscal space in which government is operating.
It emerged among the issues of concern that the ministry is also trying to resolve is that of war veterans who have had their pieces of land repossessed by the Ministry of Lands and Rural Resettlement.
