A Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks) helicopter crash-landed in Hwange National Park yesterday afternoon.

Reports show that none of the two people who were on board the aircraft were injured.

ZimParks spokesperson Mr Tinashe Farawo confirmed the accident, saying investigations were underway.

"ZimParks would like to confirm that a helicopter crash-landed at Hwange National Park today at around 4PM.

"Two people were aboard the chopper, the pilot and one passenger and none was injured as a result of the crash," said Mr Farawo.

He said ZimParks had reported the matter to police and the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ).

"We are now waiting on CAAZ to conduct further investigations," he said.

CAAZ had not issued a statement on the mishap by the time of going to press.

However, a source close to the investigations said CAAZ had already started to look at possible causes of the crash.

"We hope that after the investigations, we will be able to establish what could have caused the crash.

"No one was injured and everything else looks normal," she said.
