A JILTED lover reportedly ran berserk when he doused his former wife's alleged boyfriend with petrol and set him on fire.
However, the alleged boyfriend was lucky to have escaped with minor burns after the attack. Priscilla Masuwa said she has since parted ways with her former husband Samuel Machetu as a result of his violent conduct.
Priscilla bared it all at the Harare civil court where she was seeking a protection order against him.
"I divorced this man eight months ago after he doused a male friend of mine with petrol and set him on fire claiming I was having an adulterous affair with him.
"Even now, whenever he sees me with another man, he harasses me. At times he takes away my cellphone browsing my messages," she said.
Priscilla went on to tell the court that Samuel has been coming to her parents' house where she is now staying demanding that she comes back home.
"I also want him barred from visiting me as he has been coming to my parents' home demanding that I come back. Everyone in my family is afraid of him and that's why I don't want him to come," she added.
Responding to the claims, Samuel said: "It is true that I burnt her boyfriend. In as far as I am concerned she is still my wife because she did not follow proper procedures in divorcing me," said Samuel.
Magistrate Renikah Dzikiti, who presided over the case, granted the protection order in Priscilla's favour.
