4-year-old burnt beyond recognition

A mysterious fire is reported to have burnt a four year old boy beyond recognition in Mwanza village, Goromonzi yesterday.
Eye witnesses allege the fire gutted the bedroom hut in which the minor was sleeping in after his grandmother had left the homestead.
"The boy was burnt beyond recognition when his grandmother left him asleep around 20:00hours.
"The fire could not be easily put up and various materials were burnt," said the source.
A close relative to the deceased who spoke on condition of anonymity said the mother of the child had abandoned him at his grandmother's house after she divorced and remarried.
"This child was abandoned by his mother who wanted to remarry and her new husband did not want to look after him.
"Apparently the grandmother had been given the child one week before the tragedy to look after him ," revealed the source.
Meanwhile, the matter was reported at Juru police station and members of the force at the station said the matter is still under investigation.
