Training programmes for young graduates

Government is mooting incentivising businesses that accommodate young graduates in training programmes that enhance entrepreneurship development.
Government efforts to develop entrepreneurship skills among the youths, has seen the number of graduates increase due to the multiplicity of training institutions but sadly against a background of poor performance by companies.
The industry has been challenged to absorb the graduates through graduate trainee programmes to enhance their entrepreneurship skills and cover the unemployment gap.
Speaking at a stakeholders conference on youth empowerment and entrepreneurship in the capital, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Dr Desire Sibanda said government is working towards incentivising such companies.
Zimbabwe Economic Policy Analysis and Research Unit which has been implementing a project on youth empowerment and entrepreneurship through technology transfer by attaching graduates to relevant companies said there is need to mobilise resources for training of youth in various empowerment projects.
The project saw 40 graduate interns developing various innovative projects with practical industrial applications in a number of areas including productivity, enhancement and energy efficiency.
