The MDC-T deputy Secretary General Tapiwa Mashakada has urged the Zimbabwean opposition parties to learn from the Kenyan elections which have been nullified by the Supreme court after Uhuru Kenyatta was declared a winner in the disputed polls.
Kenyan Supreme Court ruled out Kernyatta's victory setting a record that courts can enforce proper democracy even in the advent of violent regimes.
"What lessons can the Zimbabwe opposition forces learn from the Kenya Election debacle? I think the one big lesson is that going into a rigged election is risky business," he said.
"And its a gambling act to rely on post electoral petitions even when the electoral petitions of 2000 and 2012 have not been disposed of. An independent judiciary is key to electoral democracy. Its not prudent to be rigged first and cry foul. Let us fight for electoral and political reforms and register as many voters as possible."
Mashakada said the MDC Alliance is the panacea to unseating the regime provided we push for comprehensive reforms.
"As Shakespeare pontificated in The Hamlet, "To be or not to be is the question." he said.
