A Mberengwa man has appeared in court facing allegations of murder after a dispute over a donkey he bought but never received.

Hlupeko Mabuzane is said to have fatally assaulted Malambeni Makondo, who was a witness to the sale of a donkey, which was never delivered to him.

Appearing before Zvishavane Magistrate, Mr Shepherd Mjanja, the suspect was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to September 14.

The state, led by Prosecutor Mr Stanley Ncube, alleges that last week on Monday, Mabuzane had a misunderstanding with the now deceased Makondo.

Details are that Mabuzane bought a donkey and Makondo was a witness to the sale.

The accused, after having failed to receive his donkey, became angry and started demanding his money back.

It is alleged that the accused then took some logs which he used to assault Makondo all over the body, resulting in head injuries and a broken arm.

Makondo was rushed to Zvishavane Hospital where he died the following day.
