A political commentator Pedzisai Ruhanya has said MDC- T Vice President Thokozani Khupe wants the best for her party and must not be vilified for what she is doing.
He said a political alliance or political coalition can be described as an agreement for cooperation between different political parties with a common political agenda, for purposes of contesting an election so as to clear election thresholds for government formation after the election.
The remarks come a time when Khupe and her allies from Matabeleland are accused of wanting to derail the democratic process by boycotting the MDC Alliance.
"An analysis of the opposition forces in Zimbabwe suggest that the challenges and obstacles to an opposition coalition are personal (who will be the leader?) organizational (who can mobilize the majority, especially the rural electorate?) and financial (how does the opposition fund its campaign?)," said Ruhanya.
"There appears to be lack of consensus on all these fronts. Why then should Hon Khupe be vilified when she wants the best for MDC-T? This is realpolitik; maximization of power, its democratic. That rigorous democratic debate is required."
