Probe into Elliot Manyika's death concluded

A PROBE into the accident which claimed the life of former Zanu PF national commissar Elliot Manyika in 2008 has concluded that there was no foul play in his death.
Investigations to ascertain the cause of the accident and Manyika's subsequent death started after some family members queried circumstances surrounding the accident suspecting that his injuries were not consistent with a car accident.
On Wednesday, Police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Wayne Bvudzijena said police investigations indicated that his death was purely a road accident. There was no further police action.
The accident occurred on the 145km peg along the Zvishavane-Mbalabala Road after Manyika's official Mercedes Benz vehicle reportedly burst a tyre and careered off the road killing him instantly.
He was travelling from Mutare to Gwanda on Zanu PF restructuring business.
Chief Superintendent Crispen Makedenge led investigations in the case. Efforts to obtain the docket were fruitless since its whereabouts could not be ascertained.
As part of the investigations, a tyre of Manyika's Mercedes Benz was sent to South Africa for forensic examination.
