The constitutional amendment number one has been passed into law after assent by the President.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Mrs Virginia Mabhiza confirmed the latest development.
Under the new law, the President is empowered to select the Chief Justice, his deputy and the Judge President and these appointees will not be subjected to interviews in public as provided in the current provisions of the constitution.
The subject on the selection procedure came on the spot light late last year when a High Court application was filed challenging section 180 of the constitution of Zimbabwe on the basis that a Chief Justice cannot be subjected to interviews in public by Judicial Service Commission (JSC) commissioners, who are junior.
The amendment is the first to the 2013 constitution of Zimbabwe.
