A 5-year-old grade zero pupil allegedly drowned in a dip tank at Muswite farm in Guruve on Monday.
A source who spoke to Bulawayo24.com said Terence Francisco (5) drowned while playing with other children over the weekend.
Francisco drowned, and his colleagues went and told his grandmother who silenced them fearing police arrest.
"The minor drowned on Saturday in a dip tank while playing with his friends.
"After the tragic, the friends went on to tell the grandmother who was furious and ordered the little boys to be silent about the tragic."
It is further alleged that the corpse of the deceased was subsequently found by a passer prompting a police report.
Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Petros Masikati said he is yet to receive the case.
Meanwhile, Guruve district schools inspector Mr. Penius Dambuza could neither confirm nor deny saying he has not yet received a formal report.
"I am just hearing that grapevine, but we are yet to receive a formal report as soon as we get it we will furnish you with information," he said.
