A 19-YEAR-OLD Mangwe teenager has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his two friends aged 18 and 19 in a dispute over a woman.
Cleopas Moyo of Sanzukwi area was not asked to plead when he appeared before Plumtree magistrate, Mr Joshua Mawere facing attempted murder charges.
He was remanded in custody to September 26.
Prosecuting, Mr Zorodzai Pengapenga said Moyo stabbed and seriously injured his friends Mr Thomas Ncube and Mr King Sibanda with an okapi knife.
"On 9 September around 5PM Mr Ncube and Mr Sibanda went to Moyo's home where they confronted him over a woman that he was dating. Mr Ncube accused Moyo of dating his girlfriend behind his back.
"Moyo denied the allegations and insisted that he wasn't dating his friend's girlfriend and ordered them to leave his home as they were harassing him over something he didn't do," said Mr Pengapenga.
He said Mr Ncube became furious and pushed Moyo slightly and ordered him to stay away from his woman. Mr Sibanda allegedly tried to pull Mr Ncube away so that they could leave the homestead seeing that his friends were becoming violent but Mr Ncube resisted.
"Moyo then took an okapi knife and stabbed Mr Ncube twice on the stomach, once on the chest, once on the right arm and right hand. He turned to Mr Sibanda and stabbed him once on the thigh before fleeing," said Mr Pengapenga.
He said the matter was reported to the police leading to Moyo's arrest.
