A 64-year-old Mberengwa woman says her life has become hell after her 70-year-old husband started forcing her to have anal sex where he also uses juju.
*Salome told The Standard People in an interview in Beitbridge last week that her husband uses some kind of black magic to put her into a trance before sexually abusing her through the backside.
Salome says she does not understand what got into the head of her husband of over 40 years and father of their three adult children.
"I have no one to talk to about my problem. It started a year ago. I always dreamt of myself being sodomised and would find blood in my stool until I realised the dream was in fact real," she said.
Salome was in the border town selling her wares at a mobile HIV testing centre set up by the National Aids Council on Tuesday in Beitbridge.
The old woman was among several people that had come for instant HIV testing and she narrated her ordeal after being asked why she was testing for HIV.
"One day, I woke up to discover myself on the floor, off my bed, with my husband busy having anal sex with me. I could not believe it," Salome said.
"I asked him what he was doing and he simply cried and begged for forgiveness. He started to pray saying he did not know what was going on.
"That incident happened two years ago and it is now a daily thing. I have told his relatives but they said there was nothing they could do."
To Salome, there could be a certain spell that is haunting her husband and forcing him to act in such a manner.
"I have been forced to come for HIV-testing because I no longer understand what is going on in my life. My husband is doing funny things on me," she said.
"I have also discovered that he is using juju on me, making me pass out and then resuscitating me up after he is done. There is a stick he presses on me so that I regain consciousness.
"I once asked him why he was resurrecting me after killing me. He should simply allow me to rest in peace forever.
"I think he is performing rituals on me, but I cannot tell exactly what he is doing because he does not even have a cent in his pocket to show for any wealth-giving ritual.
"I am the one who is providing for him from the sale of traditional herbs."
Salome said she had been contemplating leaving her husband, but she feared embarrassing her children who now had their own families.
"I think it is better that our children look after us while we are together," she said.
Asked if she still had normal sex with her husband, Salome said: "What for? I am too old for that. I just let him help himself."
