CHANGAMIRE Hip Hop Awards founder, Tafadzwa "Zim Boy" Muchechetere, had a close shave with death after he was saved from drowning during a farewell pool party in Johannesburg last week.
Zim boy, who is believed to have taken to the waters while drunk, was reportedly taken out of the swimming pool when his body was noticed floating on top of the water and was rushed to a local hospital where he was resuscitated.
In an interview, the youthful hip hop promoter, who has since flown back into the country, said: "I am a good swimmer and I am still finding it hard that I almost drowned in water during my farewell party.
"The truth is I am confused because I only still recall the time that I entered the water and then I found myself lying in the hospital. I don't recall anything that happened in between.
"This was supposed to be a special day for me since it was a farewell party as I was supposed to go back to Zimbabwe two days after.
"However, the party ended prematurely and it turned out to be a sad moment for my friends and all the guests whom I had invited."
He added: "I was told people took me out of the pool after I had gulped a lot of water from the pool.
"They found my body floating on top of the water and I was not responding to everything they did to try to wake me up."
Zim-boy also confirmed he was drunk.
"The reason I could have lost control could have been the fact that I was drunk whilst I was swimming but this is not the first time for me to have swam whilst drunk."
