A man from Bulawayo will never look at opaque beer the same way after being assaulted and scalded by an elderly man and his grandson over a scud.
Godknows Matika and Joseph Matika had been drinking with Mandlenkosi Sibanda at their house but a misunderstanding ensued after Sibanda failed to buy when it was his turn.
Appearing at Western Commonage court Godknows and Joseph admitted to the offence and pleaded with the court to be lenient with them.
"We had an argument over a scud with Sibanda, he refused to contribute yet he wanted to drink. This infuriated me and my grandson leading to the attack but we made a mistake by scalding him, we are sorry for that," Joseph pleaded with the courts.
B-Metro gathered that the pair offered to pay for Sibanda's medical bills but after payment Sibanda's aunt used the money for her own benefit, leaving Sibanda with no choice but to report them.
"We agreed on an out of court settlement but after his aunt squandered the money he reported us to the police, leading to our arrest," Godknows added.
Presiding magistrate Lungile Ncube had no kind words for the pair as they were acting like mad men.
"I am disappointed that an old man like you condoned and was an accomplice to such barbaric behaviour. I will not be lenient on you two for that reason," said Ncube.
Joseph and Godknows were slapped with a $300 fine each.
